Bruno lands role in USA series

Chris Bruno (ex-Michael Delaney) has landed a part in an original series slated to air in June on the USA cable network.

The series, The Dead Zone, based on the characters and story of the same name by best-selling author Stephen King, explores how a common man must find his way in the most uncommon of lives as he copes with his magical powers.

All My Children viewers will remember Bruno as a Pine Valley High School teacher who "came out" in 1996. Various townspeople had difference reactions to Michael Delaney's sexual orientation and Michael's sister, Laurel, was an innocent victim caught in the crossfire when one of the townspeople tried to shoot and kill Michael.

According to a USA network spokesperson, The Dead Zone is about "high school science teacher Johnny Smith (Anthony Michael Hall) has everything a man could want in life -- a great job and a woman he loves. Then, after a near fatal car accident, he emerges from a coma six years later with the gift (or curse) of second sight. From a simple touch, he is responsible for saving a woman's baby from a fire, helps his doctor reunite with the mother he thought was dead and tries to prevent a serial killer from striking again. But for Johnny, he's lost everything he had -- the girl he was to marry, Sarah Bracknell (Nicole deBoer), is now married to the local sheriff (Chris Bruno) and the child they are raising is Johnny's son."

The Dead Zone is executive produced by acclaimed producers Michael Piller (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager) and Lloyd Segan (Judgment Night, The Bachelor, Blown Away) Shawn Piller (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager) serves as producer. The Dead Zone will be produced in association with Piller² and The Segan Company production companies.
